Pathways Institute offers several options for intensive treatment for both our compulsive stealing and compulsive sexual behavior programs. These options are designed for those who feel they need a more concentrated, immersive therapeutic intervention than our regular outpatient program can offer, but do not wish to enroll in a residential treatment program.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is primarily for residents of the Bay Area who could benefit from an intensive course of therapy but wish to do so without completely disrupting their lives (e.g. taking a leave from work or their family). This program offers individuals both individual and group therapy multiple times per week in addition to couples and/or family meetings if appropriate. The amount of treatment is based on our assessment, but typically ranges from 6-8 hours per week.

3-4 Day Weekend Intensive Day Treatment Programs

These intensive programs immerse the participant in treatment for 5-7 hours per day and are designed to offer an alternative to a residential program. In addition to being less-costly and less disruptive, our intensive outpatient program affords individuals many of the same benefits as residential treatment, including spousal involvement, social support, psycho-education, and daily individual therapy. We also offer a holistic approach, which includes yoga and meditation, and if necessary treatment for other addictions and disorders. Our program is available for any Bay Area resident who may need it as well as those individuals who must travel for specialized treatment regarding their stealing or sexual behaviors because they do not have local treatment programs that sufficiently address these issues.

If your life feels like it is spiraling out of control and your primary relationship is continually threatened by your out of control stealing or sexual behavior, and your behaviors are escalating and/or continuing despite therapy or 12-step involvement, our intensive outpatient program might be the help you need.
